The Rewards of Giving Back

Volunteering with HGAA isn’t just about giving — it’s about receiving. Here’s what our volunteers tell us they gain from their experience.

Directly impact the lives of young athletes in your community. Watch them grow, improve, and develop into confident individuals because of your contribution and guidance.

Connect with like-minded community members who share your passion for sports and giving back. Many of our volunteers say their closest friendships were formed through HGAA.

Gain valuable experience in coaching, event management, leadership, and organizational skills. We provide free training and certifications for all our volunteer coaches and coordinators.

Parents who volunteer as coaches or team helpers create special memories with their kids. It’s a unique opportunity to be part of your child’s athletic journey in a meaningful way.

Coaching and volunteering keeps you physically active and mentally engaged. Many of our volunteers report improved fitness, reduced stress, and a greater sense of personal purpose.

We celebrate our volunteers through annual appreciation events, awards, HGAA merchandise, and public recognition. Your contribution matters and we make sure you know it.

Volunteer FAQ

Do I need athletic experience to volunteer?

Absolutely not! While athletic experience is helpful for coaching roles, many volunteer positions require no sports background at all. We have roles in event coordination, concessions, scorekeeping, photography, field maintenance, and more. We provide training for every position.

How much time do I need to commit?

That’s entirely up to you! We have roles ranging from a couple hours per game day to full seasonal coaching commitments. During your application, we’ll work with you to find a role that fits your schedule perfectly. Even a few hours a month makes a difference.

Is there a minimum age to volunteer?

Volunteers must be at least 16 years old for most roles, and those under 18 need parental consent. We encourage high school students to volunteer — it’s great for community service hours and personal development. Coaching roles typically require volunteers to be 18 or older.

Do I need to be a parent to volunteer?

Not at all! While many of our volunteers are parents, we welcome anyone from the community. Whether you’re a college student, retiree, local business owner, or simply someone who cares about youth athletics — you are welcome here.

What training is provided for volunteer coaches?

All volunteer coaches receive free sport-specific training, CPR/First Aid certification, Positive Coaching Alliance training, and ongoing mentorship from experienced head coaches. We invest in our volunteers because they directly impact our athletes’ experiences.
